Spider Project Chester
Number 71 Spider Project is a new mental health crisis provision for Cheshire West and Chester. The project is funded by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS trust to offer a non-clinical response to anyone struggling with their mental health.
Number 71 will benefit from the celebrated success of Spider Project’s creative recovery community based in Birkenhead. In the Spider ethos, every person is an ‘asset’ and will be encouraged as a ‘member’ to bring their interests, skills, experience and personality to help build a creative and supportive community.
Staff at Number 71 are trained to offer a crisis response but also to encourage and support members to get involved in activities, and also to enable a wide range of volunteers to offer their vital contributions.
After 3 months offering a telephone-based service, we were delighted to open our doors to members on Monday 29th June. We would still ask members to call us first to help us manage numbers and keep everyone safe. We are getting our initial activity programme ready for launch in mid-July.
Anyone in self-defined crisis can contact us for help either directly or via their GP. Please spread the word!
We would love to hear from prospective volunteers, too – just give us a call.
