Project #1 is a creative initiative for young LGBTQ+ people aged 13-19, living in and around the City of Chester. Running over 8 consecutive weeks Project #1 invites young people with/without prior experience to come together and explore new ways of moving in a safe and friendly space.

While sessions will be led by Cheshire Dance artists and will thus have a dance focus, the project is about finding your own way to express yourself – and to feel FREE. As such, some participants may wish to participate in drawing, writing, photography… or any other creative art, and are encouraged to simply come along and find what feels right to them.

The inclusive workshops will culminate in a film that will document the journey, ideas and experiences of the participants in the group.

All attendees are advised that they can remain anonymous in both the project and film – if they so wish. They are able to discuss their thoughts, questions and concerns in the strictest of confidence with the Project Coordinator in advance.
