We hope you had an opportunity to attend one (or more) of the nine - yes, NINE! - LGBTQ+ Prides that took place across Cheshire in 2023 (we know there were nine ‘cos we attended each and every one of them).

To recognise all the hard work (not to mention blood, sweat and tiaras) that went into each of these fabulous events Radius & Body Positive held the first ever Celebration of Cheshire Prides.

Hosted by the Magnificent Claire Mooney each Pride was able to share their experiences of 2022, their aspirations for 2023 & announce  the winner of their ‘Outstanding Volunteer of the Year’ award (henceforth to be known as a ‘Mooney’) presented by Councillor Nan Walton, Mayor of Crewe.

We were regally entertained by Dolly, a stalwart member of Silver Rainbows and renowned Drag Perfomer, who had everyone singing and dancing (especially the residents from Belong village in Crewe who were special guests of the delegation from Silver Pride).

Two special awards were presented - The Paul Marsh Award for outstanding volunteer at Body Positive went to Ron Whalley and the award for Lifelong Contribution to LGBT+ Community was presented to Claire Mooney.

Our thanks go to Natalie, Andrew & Team Radius for taking such great care of everyone and providing a welcoming, safe and inclusive space as well as co-sponsoring the awards along with Body Positive.

Thanks also to all of you who took that ‘one small step’ after lockdown to come together in celebration of what it means to take Pride in our Cheshire LGBTQ+ community.
