The Paul Marsh Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contribution to Body Positive

Body Positive's award is named after Paul Marsh our previous Director of Service who sadly passed away in February 2014 after a battle with cancer. The Award is presented to the person who has taken the positive step to give back to the LGBTQ+ community and go out of their way to support the work of Body Positive. This year's Paul Marsh Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contribution goes to Mike Marlowe.

In the 6 years Mike has been involved with Body Positive he has willingly tipped up and done whatever has been asked of him - that gives you no sense of the passion, application and dedication to promote Body Positive - he even got his own T-Shirt printed! Willing to turn up at the waft of a hankie no matter the weather - prides, a performance or a party piece, like the shopkeeper from Mr Benn, Mike will be there. 

Don’t think it was easy for him, sometimes he was expected even to go to London and to talk about himself - which I'm sure any of you who know him can believe is an almost impossible task for him to do. None of this support would have been possible without the compliance (sorry Support) of Phil who will always be Mike's Prince Charming (which means we are taking bets on whether that makes Mike Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, or Snow White?)

One of the projects we asked Mike to get behind was Cheshire’s first and currently only LGBTQ+ choir which became Proud Marys and which he fully embraced, and is still an active member of today. From Frodsham to Folkestone from Chester to Crewe, Mike’s unexpected journey has made him a key member of this our fellowship - it is our honour and absolute pleasure to give the Paul March Volunteer award to Mike Marlowe.
